Construction of the complete reinforced concrete frame and brick masonry for a two-storey family residence in Thrace. The project covered groundworks, raft foundation, full structural frame and masonry infill, completed within a 4-month programme.
The structural frame uses C20/25 concrete with B500B rebar, designed to Eurocode 2 and Eurocode 8. Metal formwork (Meccano system) was used throughout for clean, accurate column and beam surfaces. The raft foundation was designed to distribute loads onto clay sub-soils. External walls feature 19cm hollow brick with 10cm EPS external insulation system. Internal partition walls use 9cm hollow brick.
The project was completed during the summer season in northern Greece, requiring strict management of concrete curing in high temperatures. Water curing was applied for 7 days on all exposed surfaces. The programme was compressed at the client's request, requiring two separate frame and masonry teams operating simultaneously on different levels.
