Project Summary

A high-specification industrial floor slab exceeding 1,400m² for a modern logistics distribution centre in Rodopi. The project demanded an extremely smooth, load-resistant surface with minimal joint spacing to accommodate 24/7 forklift operations.

Technical Details

C30/37 concrete with steel fibre reinforcement at 30 kg/m³ was used for increased impact resistance. Laser Screed technology achieved surface flatness to FM3 standard (±2mm). Power Trowel finishing with curing compound application created a sealed, polished surface. Saw-cut construction joints were installed within 24 hours to prevent random cracking. The slab was designed for a 5-tonne point load capacity.

Challenges & Solutions

Executing over 1,400m² within a 2-week programme required meticulous logistics planning. Concrete supply was coordinated from two plants simultaneously to maintain continuous pour. Temperature control was managed with curing blankets during cold nights to ensure proper hydration. The team worked extended shifts to complete the pour in a single day and avoid cold joints.
